January 2005 Birthdays There are no January Birthdays. From the Secretary As the year closes and we take time to reflect on the things we have accomplished, we need to take a personal inventory on our involvement in Lionism. We all have a story to tell on what brought us to want to participate in and join the Lions Club. We need to remind ourselves that the effort we put into the Lions Club continues to ripple out into the community and then comes back to us. To hear the stories of the people helped and see the "thank you"s from the organizations we help goes toward renewing our commitment to serve. When we make our New Year's resolution, lets reserve time to continue benefiting others lives through the Lions Club. Multiple District Four Convention Don't forget this years Multiple District Four (MD-4) Convention, February 11 thru 13, 2005, which will be held in San Diego at the Town and Country Hotel. P.D.G. Eddie Keyse and his wife Chris will be attending. Eddie hopes that many more San Pedro Lions Club members will also attend. P.D.G. Eddie wrote in the last Lions Tale: "In past years we always had good attendance at these conventions, but not lately. You, as Lions, can learn a lot about your organization and at the same time have a lot of fun. The San Pedro Lions Club will pay your registration fee, see the attached sheets. For more information about the convention, please feel free to give me a call." Lions Club Rose Parade Float Since 1992, Lions Clubs International has had a float in the New Year's Day Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. Two of our entries, in 1993 and 1994, won awards for the most beautiful floats in the parade. But all entries have been winners, presenting Lions an opportunity to promote our service activities to people worldwide that watch the float each year. This year's entry is entitled "Pride" and can be seen at the Lions Floats, Inc. web site, http://www.lionsrosefloat.com. Don't miss seeing the Lions Club float when you watch the Rose Parade on TV! From the President's Computer I would really appreciate any assistance with any articles or submissions for the Lions Tale. Please fax your submission to 310-831-6076 or e-mail to tdorsey@sanpedro.com. This is your newsletter, and to be truly effective and valuable, it needs input from members of the San Pedro Lions Club. Thank you. You can find our web site at http://www.sanpedrolionsclub.org. The web site has a current calendar and copies of the Lions Tale posted online. Suggestions for the web site are very welcome! HAVE A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!!
