Meetings We had a very productive Board Meeting at Lion Frank Colello's house. Plans were made for the San Pedro Lions Club participation in the San Pedro Holiday Parade on Sunday, December 5th. P.D.G. Eddie Keyse gave a report on the Comcast Cable Program that he, Lion Charlie Rico, and Lion Frank Herrera participated in. The program is currently being shown on Comcast. P.D.G. Eddie Keyse spoke about the value of attending the upcoming MD-4 convention to be held in San Diego on Feb. 11th - 13th, 2005. He urged that as many Lions as possible attend. Community Recognition will be held on Thursday, January 20th. Hot August Nights is scheduled for Friday, August 19th. Thanks to Lion Frank Colello and his wife Isabel for their hospitality! In the Hospital Lion Jim Trani was hospitalized last week with fractured hip. He is currently hospitalized at Little Company of Mary San Pedro Hospital. Our thoughts, prayers, and best wishes for a speedy recovery go out to Lion Jim. In The News The Honorary Mayor of San Pedro, Jennifer Zivkovic, wrote a great article on the Lions Club of San Pedro and Lionism. It appeared in the Saturday, Oct 16th issue of More San Pedro, which is delivered with the Daily Breeze and distributed free at many locations around the Harbor area. Peace Poster Contest Update Please mark your calendar and be sure to attend the exhibition and judging of Peace Poster entries on 1st Thursday, November 4th at 6:00 pm. The entries will be shown at Muriel Olguin's Studio, The Loft, 3rd Floor, 401 S. Mesa St. San Pedro, CA 90731. A jury of local artists will judge the posters. Our District Governor, Dick Selway, is looking forward to attending. Lion David Staley is the Chairman of the Peace Poster Contest and could use your help. Please call Lion David at (310) 833-5780. Mobil Screening Unit The Mobil Screening Unit will be at the "Justice for Murdered Children" Heath Fair in Port's O'Call parking lot on Saturday October 30th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Volunteers are needed to help with the event. This is a wonderful chance to be of service.
