October 14th - 6:30 pm  - LOVE Program - Installation 
of Officers, Alpine Village, 833 W. Torrance Blvd., 
Torrance, CA. 90502. Dinner - 7 pm. Tickets - $25 if 
registered by Oct 4th. After Oct 4th - $30.  Call Lion Phil

October 21st - 12:10 pm - Regular meeting. Carmen 
Apelgren, Community Relations Coordinator of the 
Braille Institute, will speak. Ante's Restaurant, 729 
South Palos Verdes St., San Pedro, CA 90731.

October 28th  - 6:30 pm - Tri Club meeting with the 
Harbor City/Lomita and Wilmington Lions Clubs. Tahia 
Hayslet, Executive Director of Harbor Interfaith 
Services, will speak.  6:30 pm Social.  7:00 pm dinner.

October 30th  - 10:00 am to 2:00 pm - Mobil Screening 
Unit. "Justice for Murdered Children". Port's O'Call 
Parking Lot, San Pedro, CA 90731.

November 2nd - Election Day. Don't forget to vote!

November 4th - 12:10 pm - Regular meeting. Ante's 
Restaurant, 729 South Palos Verdes St., San Pedro, CA 
90731.

November 4th - 6:00 pm - Peace Poster Contest. 
Exhibition and judging of entries. Muriel Olguin's 
Studio, The Loft, 3rd Floor, 401 S. Mesa St. San Pedro, 
CA 90731 

November 11th - 7:00 pm - Board Meeting. - Location 
TBA.

Meetings

We had a small but lively noon meeting at Ante's last 
week.  Tom and Susan Dorsey, P. D. G. Eddie Keyse, 
Julie Nicosia, Gojko Spraja, David Staley, and Vince 
Zabica attended. 

P.D.G. Eddie Keyse reported on a Comcast Cable 
Program on the Downhill Race and Lionism that he; 
Frank Herrera and Charlie Rico were interviewed for. It 
showed last weekend and will be showing at various 
times on Comcast.

Lion Julie Nicosia gave a report on upcoming events. 
Community Recognition will be held on Thursday, 
January 20th. Hot August Nights is scheduled for Friday, 
August 19th.

If you missed the event, you missed a good time, good 
food and great fellowship. And, we missed seeing you!

Peace Poster Contest Update

The local entries for the contest will be due by Thursday, 
October 28th.  An exhibition and judging of Peace Poster 
entries will be held on 1st Thursday, November 4th at 
6:00 pm. The entries will be shown at Muriel Olguin's 
Studio, The Loft, 3rd Floor, 401 S. Mesa St. San Pedro, 
CA 90731. A jury of local artists will judge the posters. 
Our District Governor, Dick Selway, is looking forward 
to attending.

Lion David Staley is the Chairman of the Peace Poster 
Contest and could use your help.  Please call Lion David 
at (310) 833-5780.  We are going to make this the best 
Peace Poster Contest yet.

Mobil Screening Unit

The Mobil Screening Unit will be at the  "Justice for 
Murdered Children" Heath Fair in Port's O'Call parking 
lot on Saturday October 30th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. 
Volunteers are needed to help with the event. This is a 
wonderful chance to be of service.

21st and the Tri Club evening meeting on October 28th! 
Let's have a great turnout for our speakers from the 
Braille Institute and Harbor Interfaith Shelter.

Speakers are needed for both the noon and evening 
meetings. If you have any ideas or potential speakers,
