Celebrity Waiter Fundraiser The "Celebrity Waiter Fundraiser" to rehab Lions Mobile Screening Unit held on October 3rd at the El Pollo Inka Restaurant in Gardena was a great success. Over 300 people showed up and the event was "standing room only". District Governor Dick Selway was in attendance and employed as a "Celebrity Waiter". Many other Lions, along with civic leaders from around the South Bay area, were waiters. Jennifer Zivkovic, the Honorary Mayor of San Pedro, was a "Celebrity Waitress". There was a good representation of San Pedro Lions Club and everyone shared in excellent food, entertainment and fellowship. Lion Gojko Spralja's wife Betty won a prize of a champagne brunch for two at Ports O'Call Restaurant. If you missed the event, you missed a great time and great food. And, we missed seeing you! Peace Poster Contest Update Contest Materials were distributed last week to the local schools and youth organizations that have committed to participating in this years Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Lion Susan Dorsey and Lions David Staley and Dr. Mike Weitzman hand delivered the packets to the schools and youth organizations. There are five schools and two youth organizations participating this year. They are: Dana Middle School, Dodson Middle School, Holy Trinity School, Mary Star Elementary School, Willenberg Special Education Center, the Boys and Girls Club and the YWCA of the Harbor Area.
