The District Governor gave an excellent talk on Lionism and his and Vice District Governor Al Adams' goals for this year. The theme for this year is "Service with Passion". Wilmington Lions Club President Charlie Rico showed an excellent video of this year's Downhill Race produced by Comcast Cable. P. D. G. Eddie Keyse presented the race winners their checks for both themselves and for their charities. Members of Beacon House received a check for their invaluable help and labor in staging the Downhill Race. Checks were also presented to the Harbor City / Lomita Lions Club, the San Pedro Lions Club, and the Wilmington Lions Club for their Charities accounts. District Governor Dick Selway inducted two new Lions, Chris Gutierrez of the Wilmington Lions Club and Lauren Cotner of the San Pedro Lions Club. A big Lion Roar welcomed the new members. P. D. G. Eddie Keyse presented San Pedro Lion George Keens with a 45-year pin. Ante's served an excellent meal and all enjoyed good fellowship! Thanks to the Harbor City / Lomita Lions Club, the Wilmington Lions Club and the San Pedro Lions Club for a great meeting and a good turnout. If you missed the meeting, you missed a great time and good fellowship. And, we missed seeing you! Lions on TV Huell Howser Productions, producer of the California Gold Series viewed on all PBS stations, recently taped Lions In Sight at work. The production company followed various Lions around the southern California area and documented how they pick up used eyeglasses. Then they visited the warehouse in Vallejo to witness how the glasses are sorted, cleaned and calibrated. They accompanied a volunteer trip to Hermosillo, Mexico and taped a mission team in the actual operation of a clinic. This film, titled "California Green," will be shown on KCET in Southern California on Sunday October 3rd and Tuesday October 19th, both times at 6:00 PM.
