September 16th - 12:10 pm - Regular meeting. Ante's

September 18th - 10:00 am - The Lions Camp At 
Teresita Pines in Wrightwood Annual Open House. All 
Lion's club members and their families are invited.

September 23rd  - 6:30 pm - Tri Club meeting with the 
Harbor City/Lomita and Wilmington Lions Clubs. 6:30 
pm Social.  7:00 pm dinner. Ante's Restaurant, 729 
South Palos Verdes St., San Pedro, CA 90731.

October 7th - 12:10 pm - Regular meeting. Ante's 
Restaurant, 729 South Palos Verdes St., San Pedro, CA 
90731.

Meetings

We had a great noon meeting last Thursday, September 
2nd. Gojko Spralja, who recently returned from 
Dalmatia, led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and a 
rousing singing of "God Bless America". Wayne Bettis, 
George Keens, Jim Trani, Mike Wietzman, Mitch 
Young, Vince Zabica, and Susan and Tom Dorsey 
attended. A prospective new member, Sandra Probanda, 
also attended. 

A goodly amount of money was raised as Lions bid for 
and against Lion Gojko telling one of his famous jokes. 
A syndicate of Lions was quickly formed and they 
pooled their money together and outbid the President 
who was trying to avoid hearing the joke! Tail Twister 
George Keens also collected fines from the usual 
suspects. Lion Mitch Young won the Fifty - Fifty 
drawing and donated his winnings back to the Club. 
Thanks Mitch!

If you missed the meeting, you missed a great time and 
good fellowship. And, we missed seeing you!  

More Downhill Race News

Dan Paramore invited the Harbor City - Lomita Lions, 
The Wilmington Lions Club and the San Pedro Lions 
Club to his church, the Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, 
for an award presentation to Chami Fernando, David 
Alvarez, and Byron Harnell.  Pastor Lance Botoran 
made the Lions Club members feel very welcome and 
spoke to the congregation about the work the Lions Club 
does in service to the community. 

Harbor City - Lomita Lions President Henry Alvarez and 
Zone Chair Lion Jeanne Wood from the 
Harbor City - Lomita Lions Club and Lion Tom Dorsey 
attended.  

Recycling Cans & Bottles

Lion Susan Dorsey's last run to turn in aluminum cans 
and bottles yielded $34.13 for the San Pedro Lions Club 
Charities Account. Lion Vince Zambia gave Susan 
another $24.00 Joe Padilla had raised from cans. Please 
bring any aluminum cans or plastic drink bottles you 
wish to donate to any meeting or call Tom or Susan at 
310-831-6245 and we will happily come to your home 
or business to pick them up.  Don't forget to ask your 
friends or neighbors if they have any cans or bottles to 
donate. Many people simply throw theirs away in the 
trash.

San Pedro Lions Club In the News

The Daily Breeze More San Pedro for Saturday, 
September 4th had a photo of Byron Harnell and Kevin 
Cabrera shaking hands, after racing down Gaffey Street, 
during the Downhill Race.

Lions Clubs from around the world. And, that was just 
for the period of August 9th through Sept 7th!

A telephone tree is being established to contact members 
about meetings and events. Susan will be discussing the 
phone tree at this week's board meeting.  If you would
