He was 95 years old. Julian had been a member of the San Pedro Lions Club for over 50 years. Lion Julie Nicosia and her committee have been doing a wonderful job and have all of the loose ends tied up. This will be a great event and an excellent fundraiser for the Lions Project for Canine Companions and our Charities Fund. You should have received four tickets for the event in the mail. You also should have received a letter requesting door prizes or a $50.00 donation to buy bigger door prizes. If you have already responded, thank you! If not, please respond this week! Don't miss this event! From the President's Computer We had our Board Meeting last Thursday night with a great turnout with eight board members and three hard working non-board members. We all had a very enjoyable meeting thanks to wonderful hospitality of Gojko and Betty Spralja who graciously offered their home for the meeting. We missed Eddie and Chris Keyse who were attending and representing the San Pedro Lions Club at the Lions International Convention in Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, Canada. We can't wait to get a report on the convention. Thank you Eddie and Chris for your time and effort attending the convention. The board voted to change the noon meeting at Ante's on the third Thursday of the month from a "Fellowship" meeting back to a Regular noon meeting. The vote was unanimous. Lion Dr. Mike Weitzman reported that the Mobile Screening Clinic held at the Harbor Free Clinic was a great success. Approximately 100 people were screened for Vision, Hearing, Blood Pressure and Diabetes. San Pedro Lions Dr. Weitzman, Frank Colello and his wife Isabel, George Keens, David Staley, Susan Dorsey and Charlie Rico from the Wilmington Lions Club all volunteered and with the Harbor Free Clinic made this event a real benefit to the community. Thank you. Lion Frank Colello reported on the Downhill Race. It is going to be a stellar event this year! Frank and his fellow Committee members are selling a lot of advertising in this year's Race Program and have sold several very large ads! Each member of the San Pedro Lions Club is asked to sell at least two ads in the program. Please contact Eddie Keyse or Frank Colello for further information.
