Ernie Powell, Associate State Director, Advocacy California State Office of AARP spoke on the proposed Social Security changes and what they can mean to us. His discussion about Social Security included what to ask our elected officials. His talk was very informative and many Lions got their questions answered. San Pedro Lion Vince Zabica received his International President's Certificate of Appreciation for his 53 years membership in Lions. There was fellowship, friendship and a good time for all! Downhill Race Committee The Downhill Race Committee will be meeting on Tuesday evening, June 14th at 7:00 pm. The meeting will be held at Lion Eddie Keyse's house, 1743 W. Chandeleur Dr., San Pedro 90732. You are invited! Be sure to attend this meeting and cast your vote. Mr. and Miss San Pedro Contest The Mr. & Miss San Pedro Scholarship Contest for teens and young adults ended Wednesday May 25th. The new Mr. and Miss San Pedro will be announced and their prizes awarded at the June 30th Tri-Club Meeting and Installation. Lions Dave Staley, Sandra Prebanda, and Mike Weitzman, have worked very hard to make this contest a success. They deserve a big "Thank You!" from all of us. Baseball The San Pedro Lions Club will be going to the game, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Friday evening, June 17th. We will see the Los Angeles Angels at Anaheim vs. Florida Marlins.
