May 26th Tri-Club Meeting The upcoming May 26th Tri-club meeting at Ante's Restaurant, 729 South Palos Verdes St., San Pedro, CA 90731 should be a great one! We have a wonderful speaker who will address a very timely subject that affects almost all of us. Ernie Powell, Associate State Director, Advocacy California State Office of AARP will speak on the proposed Social Security changes and what they can mean to us and our families. His discussion about Social Security will also include what to ask our elected officials. Here's your chance to get your questions answered! Be sure and mark your calendar. Bring a friend! There is a 6:30 pm Social and dinner is at 7:00 pm. We are looking forward to seeing you at the Tri-Club meeting. Rumor has it that Lion Susan will be bringing a camera. Mr. and Miss San Pedro Contest The Mr. & Miss San Pedro Scholarship Contest for teens and young adults is fast coming to an end. Beacon House, the Boys and Girls Club and Toberman Settlement House are all participating. The contest began April 11th and will run through May 25th. Lions Dave Staley, Lion Sandra Prebanda, and Mike Weitzman, have all been working very hard to make this contest a great success! Lion Dave Staley reports over 1700 tickets have been distributed. District Convention The 4-L3 District Convention just ended! Lions Chris and Eddie Keyse attended the convention and represented the San Pedro Lions Club. We are eagerly awaiting their convention report. Thank you Chris and Eddie! Baseball The San Pedro Lions Club will be going to the game, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Friday evening, June 17th. We will see the Los Angeles Angels at Anaheim vs. Florida Marlins. Tickets are $12. Fireworks, Baseball and fellow Lions, what a combination! Mark your Calendar now.
